The Rose Garden

The Rose Garden creates an immediate wow moment. When flowers are in season, it’s incredibly beautiful, making it an especially meaningful spot for proposals and engagement photos. The flowers make it feel celebratory without needing any additional setup, which is one of the reasons it works so well.

The Japanese Garden

Just a short walk away is the Japanese Garden. With bridges, water features, and beautiful greenery, this area is perfect for engagement portraits. This is one of our favorite spots in the entire botanical garden!

The Rainforest Conservatory

A lush and tropical garden, the Rainforest Conservatory is exotic and at the same time peaceful. Water features and a meandering path inside the domed area make it a unique change of pace from other spots at Forth Worth Botanic Garden.

Space, Privacy, and Flow

Despite being a public garden, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden never feels chaotic. The grounds are nice and spacious so it doesn’t feel overcrowded. People are generally very respectful when they notice photos happening, and while you may occasionally pause for a moment to let a space clear, it never feels stressful or too busy.

That sense of ease makes a big difference in how a session feels, and when you’re comfortable, the photos turn out even better.

Logistics for a Fort Worth Botanic Garden Engagement Session

Understanding the logistics ahead of time really helps. Taking care of everything beforehand gives you peace of mind, and eliminates stress so that you can enjoy your engagement session and time together to the full! The Fort Worth Botanic Garden has a clear permit process, which makes planning easy and straightforward as long as timing is considered carefully.

Here’s what couples should know:

  • Photography permits are $30, plus garden admission.

  • Permits are valid for 2 hours.

  • The last photography pass is sold 2 hours before closing.

  • In winter months, the garden closes before sunset. However, the grounds have plenty of shade, and the final hours the garden is open often have a soft, glowy light that photographs beautifully.

A Real Fort Worth Botanic Garden Engagement Story

Morgan and Lizzy’s time at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden began with a surprise proposal and naturally flowed right into an engagement session afterward. The joy was so palpable from the very start! Morgan put an incredible amount of thought into the planning. With an Army background, he approached it with care and precision, even creating a full presentation to map out timing, locations, and logistics so everything could unfold seamlessly!

We worked closely with him ahead of time to fine-tune the plan around the garden’s hours and layout, making sure nothing felt rushed. On the day of the proposal, we arrived early to scout locations together, and the second we stepped into the Rose Garden, we knew…this was it! It was the perfect spot for Morgan’s proposal. Afterwards, we moved through the Japanese Garden and nearby areas for engagement portraits.

To end the day, Morgan and Lizzy headed to a romantic dinner at Del Frisco’s, where we coordinated with the restaurant to surprise them with a bottle of champagne. It was such a fun way to help them slow down, celebrate, and really take in everything that had just happened.
